Like most people, January started out with the best of intentions, provided by New Years resolution to GET IN SHAPE and EAT HEALTHY CLEAN FOODS ALL THE TIME! I ate well, exercised when I could and actually dropped a few pounds! My stomach is feeling flatter and my butt a bit higher. The whites of my eyes are whiter and my smile somehow seems not just bigger, but more genuine.
Now that we're into February, the workouts are no more, the food journal that was so meticulously maintained is collecting dust, and the gentleman behind the counter at the corner store is seeing me frequently for late night chips runs. Not good.
I think my problem, like the problem with every new years resolution, is lack of clarity - the goal is so broad and poorly defined, it becomes unmanageable. Imagine a young entrepreneur starting a new business with the sole goal: TO MAKE MONEY. Sure, that is a primary goal for any business, but without a realistic plan to achieve that goal, no stepping stones to get there, the plan (or lack thereof) will surely fail. What is the product? Who will consume it? Who will manufacture it? How will it be priced? Where will it be available? When can the goal be realized?
What will I eat? When? How much? When will I exercise? How much will I lift? What kind of cardio?
These are the questions I need to start answering, or else my plan to get in shape will fall by the wayside, as it has too many times before.
This is a place for me to outline the plan and the expectations, execute the objectives and track my progress. Failure is no longer an option, for I refuse to continue fooling no one but myself.
